Wood Carver Bio - Sara Barraclough
Sara Barraclough is a woodcarver known for whimsical caricature carvings that radiate personality and heart. She started carving in 2017 and her work has gained recognition in the carving world, including multiple features in Woodcarving Illustrated Magazine. She made her debut in the Spring 2020 issue and has since authored Weekend Whittling Projects and Learn to Carve Gnomes, Trolls, and Mythical Creatures.
Sara discovered carving during a difficult season in life and found it to be a powerful way to channel energy into something positive and healing. Drawing inspiration from her Scandinavian great-grandfathers—both master carvers—she creates original, pattern-free caricatures infused with her own expression and storytelling.
A full-time mom living in the red rock desert of Southern Utah, Sara carves wherever life takes her—whether that’s in the car, at a ball game, or out camping. Her greatest hope is to pass this love of carving on to the next generation, one joyful cut at a time.
